The summer heat will soon give way
to the tender harvests of autumn
Where the
drawn-out days give way to evenings
in pleasure with fine friends
gathered to sup out of doors
bundled for the cool fall dusk
Where the
smells of baked pies and roasts now untrammeled
by the humid molasses of the August air
waft to your nose
lighting the comforting fire
of memories within
Where our travails and achievements
shall soon find rest and satisfaction
nestled among the flaming reds and orange
of fallen leaves
Where the wistful steps of Persephone’s descent
reminds us of the burdens of life
but also the eternal return of spring
So the summer heat will soon give way
to the tender harvests of autumn:
